Focus Asia is a series of public lectures that the Centre organises regularly. The lectures are given in English, and admission is free of charge. With these public lectures, the Centre intends to provide an opportunity to all those interested to hear Europe’s best scholars in East and South-East Asian Studies speak on important topics concerning East and South-East Asia today.
On 7 December this year the Focus Asia symposium will investigate the multiple roles that China plays in Southeast Asia with particular focus on how China influences political and democratic development in the region. It will also address domestic challenges within China to the country’s assertive development strategy connecting China with Southeast Asia.
