Erik Mobrand

I am an associate professor of Korean studies at the Graduate School of International Studies, Seoul National University. My research and teaching areas cover development studies, democracy in Asia, and alternative approaches to Asian studies. I am the author of Top-Down Democracy in South Korea (University of Washington Press, 2019). My articles have appeared in Journal of Asian Studies, Modern Asian Studies, Journal of Contemporary China, and Pacific Affairs, among other outlets.

While visiting the Centre in Autumn 2020, I am working on a number of projects. A major theme in many of these projects is the relationship between law and politics. I am also digging into a new project on the politics of anti-corruption movements.
