Film screening: Blood Berries

Film screening, followed by a discussion with the film’s director, Hathairat Phaholtap, and the editor-in-chief of The Isaan Record, an independent news website covering social and political issues in Northeast Thailand. 

Blood Berries follows Thai migrant berry pickers working in Finland and Sweden, offering insight into the human realities behind the Nordic wild berry industry. Filmed over three years, the documentary traces the journeys of workers from Thailand's Isaan region as they travel to Europe in search of economic opportunities.

In recent years, reports of exploitation and human trafficking linked to the Nordic berry industry have received growing attention. Through the voices of the workers themselves, the film examines the realities of these migration journeys, documenting experiences of hardship, resilience, and hope.

The film will be screened with English subtitles.
