National agreement with Elsevier is cancelled
“In order to take steps towards the goal of immediate open access by 2026 set by the Swedish Government, the Bibsam Consortium has after 20 years decided not to renew the agreement with the scientific publisher Elsevier.” – the Bibsam Consortium.
As a consequence of this decision, Elsevier’s journals will not be available at Swedish libraries after the 30th of June 2018. Content published between January 1995 and the end of June 2018, will still be available. Similar negotiations are taking place in several countries, in Germany for example, the negotiations stranded last year and agreements were cancelled.
