Article in Arctic Yearbook 2018 – Chinese Mining in Greenland: Arctic Access or Access to Minerals?

Alumnus Patrik Andersson, who studied at the center from 2014 to 2016, has published an article in the 2018 edition of the Arctic Yearbook together with co-authors Jesper Zeuthen and Per Kalvig. The article, titled “Chinese Mining in Greenland: Arctic Access or Access to Minerals,” studies Chinese interests in two Arctic mineral exploration projects – the Citronen Fjord zinc project in Northern Greenland and the Kvanefjeld Rare Earth Element (REE)-uranium project in Southern Greenland.
 
Patrik is currently an industrial PhD student at Aalborg University and the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland. The article is part of his PhD project on Chinese interests and priorities in the Artic mining sector, titled “Chinese Arctic Mineral Interests: Investigating Institutional and Political Reach”.
