Former master student John Hennessey defends Ph.D thesis in History

John Hennessey who graduated from the Centre in 2011 successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis at the Linné University, Växsjö on 9 March .

The thesis studies Japanese colonial history and is entitled, Rule by Association: Japan in the Global Trans-Imperial Culture, 1868–1912.

Professor Alexis Dudden, University of Connecticut, was the external reviewer, and members of the examining committee included professor Marina Svensson from the Centre for East and South-East Asian Studies.
