Visualizing Asian Cities Photo Contest

The Centre for East and South-East Asian Studies announces a photo contest for students enrolled at Lund University.

Asian cities are vibrant and diverse places that reflect unique histories at the same time as they are undergoing rapid changes.  The cities are however often depicted in rather stereotypical fashion in media so the challenge is to explore and visualize cities through images that show complexities, contradictions, and changes.

The ”Visualizing Asian Cities” Photo Contest encourages participants to submit a photo in one of the following categories:

Traditions and heritage
Participants are invited to explore and visualize different aspects of history, traditions, and heritage sites in the city.

Hidden places
Participants are invited to explore and visualize hidden places that reveal new things about the city and contrast or challenge images of sites, buildings and places that are used in city and tourism branding

Dreams and creativity
Participants are invited to explore and visualise the dreams that draw people to the city, and creative spaces and activities in the city.

The contest launches on 30 November 2018 and will close on 15 March 2019.

This contest is open to students enrolled at Lund University at the time of the competition.
