Why did you choose Asian studies?
I have always had an interest in Asia, in particular China, and I wanted to expand my knowledge in order to better understand the growing influence of Asia in today’s global world. I also have a big interest in the global fashion industry and during my studies I had the opportunity to develop both these interests while writing my thesis on Vogue China as a part of the fashion system in the global fashion capital of Shanghai.    

The master program in Asian studies also appealed to me since it is interdisciplinary and it gave me the opportunity to tailor my education with elective courses. Furthermore it gave me the chance to study at Fudan University and to do fieldwork in Shanghai.   

When did you graduate from the Masters Programme in Asian Studies?
June 2010. 


What are you doing today?

Currently, I am a PhD student at the department of Service Management, Lund University. My areas of interest are the global fashion industry, the fashion system, popular culture and consumer culture.   

What was it like being a student in Lund? Any recommendations for future students?
Being a student in Lund is a chance to be part of an inspiring and international atmosphere. During my time as a master student in Lund I made some great friends, I met students and researchers from all over the world and I had the opportunity to attend interesting seminars. There are also many opportunities for networking and a lot of fun social events to attend. Lund is also very close to Malmö and Copenhagen, and it is very nice to do the Öresund loop to experience the coastal areas of Sweden and Denmark, and lastly the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is well worth a visit for those interested in art.
