As part of their studies, students at the Master programme write a thesis on cultural, social, political or economic issues in contemporary Asia. The theses reflect the interdisciplinary character of the programme and address many of the important and pressing issues facing Asia today. In January 2007, theses were submitted on a wide range of topics, including: Chinese and Indian film, Japan's cultural diplomacy in China, Japanese snowboarders in New Zealand, honour killings in Pakistan, female political participation in India, hilltribe children in Thailand, education in Vietnam, microfinance in China, corruption in Bangladesh, the Wenzhou industrial model in China, and Sino-Japanese relations in the Koizumi era.
Most of the theses can be found in the LUP Student papers (a full text database of exam papers presented at Lund University).
