New Director

Professor Marina Svensson is from 1 October new director of the Centre for East and South-East Asian Studies.

Prof. Svensson takes over the role from Professor Roger Greatrex who is now retiring.

Prof. Marina Svensson came to the Centre in 2004 and is since 2014 Professor of Modern China Studies. Marina has received research grants from the Swedish Research Council, Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, and the Swedish International Development Agency. She has been project leader for a number of different interdisciplinary research projects, for example on Chinese law and investigative journalism in China. She is currently project leader for a Swedish Research Council funded project on China’s digital society, and also does research on cultural heritage issues and independent documentary film.
