Monica Lindberg Falk

Monica is vice director, director of studies and lecturer at the Centre for East and South-East Asian Studies at Lund University. She received her Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from Gothenburg University, Sweden. Her scholarship focuses on South-East Asia and includes extensive fieldwork in Thailand. She is the author of the monographs Making Fields of Merit: Buddhist Female Ascetics and Gendered orders in Thailand and Post-Tsunami Recovery in Thailand: Socio-cultural responses. She has published on themes related to gender and Buddhism, socially engaged Buddhism, and socio-cultural responses to disasters.  Her research interests include gender, Buddhism, anthropology of disaster, anthropology of memory, politics of memory, education and social change in South-East Asia.

She has extensive collaboration with institutions and colleagues internationally and nationally and she is engaged in academic networks on gender in Asia, anthropology of disaster and various networks on Southeast Asia.
