Associations and Networks

The Centre and its staff members are involved in a number of networks related to the field of Asian Studies. For further information about these various networks, please see each network.

European Association for Chinese Studies (EACS)

The purpose of the European Association for Chinese Studies (EACS) is to promote and foster all scholarly activities related to Chinese Studies in Europe.

EACS serves not only as the scholarly representative of Chinese Studies in Europe but also as a contact organisation for academic matters in this field.

EastAsiaNet

EastAsiaNet is a Network of European research schools with a social science focus on East Asia. The participating institutions are active in tertiary education, so the network cooperates in postgraduate training as well as in research. "East Asia" is understood to cover Japan, Korea, and Greater China.

European Alliance for Asian Studies

The European Alliance for Asian Studies is a cooperative platform of European institutions specializing in the study of Asia. The aim of the Alliance, established in 1997, is to bring together the varied competence and expertise on Asia and Asian Studies found in Europe,  strengthening this rich and unique tapestry of academic endeavour found in the region. The Alliance, moreover, facilitates a multi-level communication channel between its members while it sets out to raise public awareness of the scholarly excellence they offer to the benefit of their constituencies and national and transnational environments.

European Association for Southeast Asian Studies (EuroSEAS)

The European Association for Southeast Asian Studies (EuroSEAS) is the world’s largest organisation devoted to the study of Southeast Asia. EuroSEAS was founded in 1992, and its members work primarily in the humanities and social sciences, from archaeology to economics, from anthropology to linguistics, and from art history, literature, theatre studies to religious studies.

Lund Human Rights Research Hub (LHRRH)

The hub serves to showcase the wide range of human rights research undertaken at Lund University/RWI and to stimulate increased collaboration and multi-disciplinary research and education. In line with Lund University's vision to be 'a world-class university that works to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition, ' the hub further works to create stronger ties between its research and relevant policy-makers, practitioners and the general public. The Centre is one of the eight participating institutions in this research hub.

Nordic Association for the Study of Contemporary Japanese Society (NAJS)

The Nordic Association for the Study of Contemporary Japanese Society (NAJS) was formed in 2002 with the aim to encourage Japanese studies in the Nordic countries, in particular by stimulating education and research related to modern Japanese society. The ambition of the network is to be an interdisciplinary forum where doctoral students and researchers can share experiences, exchange information, and take part in debates.

Nordic NIAS Council

Presently 25 Nordic universities and research institutions in all five Nordic countries make up the Nordic NIAS Council, a body that actively works to support and strengthen Asian studies in the Nordic region. The Centre is a paying Council member on behalf of Lund University. The Council works to support and strengthen Asian studies in the Nordic region. It organizes seminars and annual conferences. All Council member universities and their staff and students have via the Asiaportal.info (new window) access to a large number of databases, Asian newspapers, academic journals, and other valuable resources.

Nordic Southeast Asia Network

The network aims to bring scholars together from the Nordic countries through events that are either organized by the network or individuals within the network or events where it would be fruitful to bring a specific Southeast Asian dimension aboard. Facilitating the exchange between students will be of particular importance. Finally, the network will also be used as a vehicle for fundraising and common projects.
